• Angiography is helpful for evaluating the abdominal tumor blood vessels, displaced vessels and new blood
vessels (neovascularization).
• A small bowel x-ray may locate a tumor. This procedure involves passing a small plastic tube through the nose
to the duodenum and injecting barium and air to provide contrast.
Endoscopy and Biopsy
• Fiberoptic endoscopy is rarely possible unless it is done during surgery.
• A small part of the terminal ileum can be seen during a colonoscopic evaluation.
• Small bowel endoscopy is useful during surgery for additional evaluation.
